Theatre Audition
To audition for Theatre, submit your application by the deadline January 26, 2024. Theatre applicants will be asked to perform a short Monologue at their scheduled audition. We highly suggest students attend the Audition Workshop in November to help prepare for their audition submission. For more information on the workshop, click HERE.
Audition Requirements
Your audition will consist of a short monologue of one-two minutes maximum. This monologue must be memorized well. You may select a monologue from a book, play, or from our list of suggested monologues HERE. You may also choose a piece that you’ve created but it must be under the two-minute max, and you’ll need to provide a written copy of your monologue.
We ask that you watch this Theatre Audition Tutorial Video prior to preparing and recording your own monologue video HERE.
For your audition, please choose a piece that is dramatic in content and show a sense of character. You should decide who you are talking to and play ONLY ONE character. Movement and body language should be included, but only if it fits with the content of your chosen piece.
Attire
Though you should wear something that you think the character you are playing would wear, please do not buy anything new for this. Instead, we want you to think about who the character is talking to, what the relationships is between them and the environment that they are currently in. The answers to those questions should lead you in the right direction of what you should wear as the character.
Judging Criteria
Theatre auditions are evaluated on the following criteria:
Vocal projection and stage presence

Callbacks
After your audition, you may be invited to attend a live callback. Receiving a callback does not mean that a decision on admission has been made, it simply means the panel wants to see you one more time before coming to a final decision.
Theatre callbacks are designed to gauge your enthusiasm for the art as well as your response to criticism and taking direction.
