Comprehensive Campaign

This is a critical moment in Boston Arts Academy’s history. Join us in making your best donation now to expand opportunities for Boston’s next generation of Artists, Scholars, and Global Citizens.

The city of Boston and Commonwealth of MA have provided funding for a state-of-the-art facility for Boston Arts Academy at 174 Ipswich Street. Opening in 2022, the new building will provide better rehearsal studios, high-tech fashion and fine art studios, a cutting-edge STEAM (STEM + Arts) laboratory, a rooftop recital hall, and professional theatres.

However beautiful, a new building is only the beginning. A vibrant school needs exceptional faculty and staff. It must be alive with programs, ready to innovate, and offer students access to the latest technology and equipment.

Boston Arts Academy Foundation partners with donors like you to fully fund Boston Arts Academy’s unique arts-intensive and college-preparatory curriculum, ensuring that students and students achieve their full potential—this year, next year, and for years to come.

Through the six-year, comprehensive Building Our Future campaign we are raising $32 million to augment Boston Arts Academy’s school budget and ensure long-term sustainability. Your support will ensure that Boston’s youth attend the finest 21st century arts high school in the country:

  • Transformative STEAM experiences

  • Enhanced artistic offerings and experiences

  • Vibrant curricula in arts and academics

  • Academic and social supports to ensure that all students can achieve their potential

How We Got Here

In the fall of 2018, Dr. Anne R. Clark, BAA Head of School, requested Boston Arts Academy Foundation launch a campaign to ensure the financial sustainability of BAA. In partnership with Denella J. Clark and Dr. Lee Pelton, the Building Our Future comprehensive campaign was then formally voted and approved by the former Mayor of Boston, now Secretary of Labor, Marty J. Walsh; the former Boston Public Schools’ Superintendent, Dr. Tommy Chang; BAAF Board of Directors; and other city leaders. It was agreed upon that the Boston Arts Academy Foundation would manage the Building Our Future campaign and serve as fiscal stewards on behalf of the school. We have proudly raised approximately $17M in gifts against the $32M six-year fundraising goal. We are halfway to the finish line!

We keep the “arts” in Boston Arts Academy

At BAAF, our mission is to “bridge the gap” between the school’s allocation from Boston Public Schools and the actual cost of a high-quality education that is both arts-intensive and college preparatory. We can keep the arts in Boston Arts Academy with the generous support of donors and members of our community.

Thank you to all who have and continue to support the Building Our Future campaign since 2018.

If the city and Commonwealth are funding the new facility, why is a campaign necessary?

The new building is being funded in part by the Massachusetts School Building Authority and the city of Boston. Boston Arts Academy Foundation helps bridge the gap between the school’s allocation from the Boston Public Schools, and the true cost of a high-quality education that is both arts-intensive and college preparatory.

Will funding from Boston Public Schools change as a result of the campaign?

No. Construction of the new school building will not change the Boston Public School’s funding formula. That’s why Boston Arts Academy Foundation has launched the Building Our Future Campaign.

What are the Campaign’s goals?

Through the six-year, comprehensive campaign, BAA Foundation is raising $32 million to augment Boston Arts Academy’s school budget and ensure long-term financial sustainability.

What is the Campaign’s timeframe?

The campaign is scheduled to end by June 30, 2025, with a focus on securing most of the funding by December 31, 2022. All donations and pledges made by June 30, 2025 will be counted as part of the Building Our Future Campaign. Pledge payments must be completed by June 30, 2027.

Are there ways to contribute other than cash?

Boston Arts Academy Foundation is offering a variety of donation opportunities for Building Our Future. In addition to cash and pledges that must be paid by June 30, 2027, Boston Arts Academy Foundation can accept appreciated stocks, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and gifts of life insurance.
