On June 13, Boston Arts Academy's Class of 2022 will celebrate their achievements and graduate at the Shubert Theater.
Commencement will include student performances, art presentations, remarks from Commencement speaker Brighton Kaoma, recognition of BAA's Community Honorees, recognition of BAAF's SuperSTARs, and awarding of diplomas to the Class of 2022! Read more here.

Brighton Kaoma is the Global Director of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network(UN SDSN Youth) in New York City. In this role, he leads global programs involving 4000+ young entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and activists working on solutions for the UN Sustainable Development Goals across 127 countries in 6 continents. He actively facilitates opportunities for young leaders to engage in sustainable development dialogue with heads of state and former presidents, cabinet ministers, and leaders of the United Nations, while at the same time having access to mentorship and start-up financing from business leaders in media, entertainment, science, and technology.
Named by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as one of the ''Queens' Young Leaders'' from Buckingham Palace in 2015, Brighton previously served as the Technical Strategy and Communications Consultant for the World World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF International) where he supported the CEO for Africa with impact reporting, thought leadership, and strategic global communication across the global conservation organisation's 10 African country offices. Brighton also served as the Country Manager for the Children's Radio Foundation, a US/South African charity working to empower children with journalistic and leadership skills. He now serves as the Global Youth Ambassador for the Childrens Radio Foundation, and is one of the One Young World Ambassadors.
A graduate of both Columbia University in New York and the University of Zambia, his relentless global efforts for intergenerational equity, sustainability, and justice has been recognized by world leaders, including, President Barack Obama, former Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, Prince Harry, UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres, and other world leaders. In 2016, he became the first African to be awarded both the Global WWF International President’s Award and the Africa Youth Conservation award for his work in designing scalable solutions for climate action and youth empowerment.
In 2019, Brighton was named among The Outstanding Young Persons of the World by the Emperor of Japan and Junior Chamber International(JCI), and his work has been featured by the BBC, The Guardian Magazine, Vanity Fair, and Sky News. Brighton is a Mandela Washington Fellow and an ex UNICEF Climate Ambassador. He co-founded an e-commerce social enterprise in Zambia, and has over the last 12 years supported start-up founders(in Hong Kong) and government officials(Malmo, Sweden) as a consultant and adviser. An acclaimed public speaker and story-teller, Brighton was the 2012 commencement speaker at Maastricht Business School(Netherlands), and has addressed heads of state and business leaders in 20 countries, including, the UK, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Japan, Hong Kong, and the UN General Assembly in New York. His first memoir is set to be published in October 2022.
