ABOUT AMY BOGER, M.D.
Dr. Amy Boger is a retired pediatrician and full-time ceramic artist. She holds a B.A. degree in American History and Literature from Radcliffe College/Harvard University and an M.D. degree from University of Pennsylvania. She did her pediatric residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, and she retains her Massachusetts license to the present day, although retired from active practice. While practicing medicine and after retirement, she frequently gave lectures on pediatric topics to women’s groups, childcare providers, teen mothers and members and professional providers for the La Leche League. She retired from full-time pediatric practice in 1989, electing to raise three children and to support her husband’s entrepreneurial career in biotech. She began her second career in ceramic art in 1998 and has worked full-time as an artist for more than twenty years. She had her own ceramics studio in Lowell, MA for many years before relocating her studio to Boston in 2014, with the establishment of Dirt and Light Arts LLC, which combines her own expanded ceramics studio with an adjacent gallery to show her own work (aka “dirt”) and the professional photography of her husband (aka “light”), hence the name “Dirt and Light Arts”.
Amy is married to Joshua Boger, Ph.D.., an organic chemist and biopharmaceutical executive, and they have three sons. Dr. Amy Boger is an advanced-level certified scuba diver, with more than 400 dives, and is her husband’s usual diving buddy. In addition, she is the co-author, with chef Sunetra Humbad, of an Indian vegetarian cookbook, “Indian Vegetarian Cooking at Your House”, which has sold over 19,000 copies.
