CHAMPION RECEPTION

Each year, Boston Arts Academy Foundation presents the Champion Award to a member of the community who embodies the school’s commitment to the arts, scholarship, and citizenship.
Thanks to all who joined us on Thursday, March 21st to Honor Hector Piña and Dr. Aisha Miller on their leadership and commitment to the Arts.
This year's reception is dedicated to scholarships for the Boston Arts Academy Class of 2024.

Champion Reception Program Book Photos by Bruno Ortet Photos by Michael Blanchard Photos by Oby OjimbaDr. Aisha Miller, currently the Vice President of Permitting, Community, and Corporate Engagement at Related Beal, has a diverse professional background, including serving as Boston's Chief of Civic Engagement and holding positions in the Boston Inspectional Services Department, as a Suffolk County Probation Officer, and as an aide to political figures.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Hector Piña is the CEO and President of Tres Islas Group Corporation and a community leader known for revolutionizing Boston's culinary scene. Hector and his wife, Nivia Piña, have launched several acclaimed eateries including Merengue, Vejigantes, Doña Habana, and Cilantro Latin Kitchen, earning national recognition for their Dominican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban cuisines. Committed to community involvement, Hector actively serves on BAAF Board of Directors and has received numerous awards for his leadership and impact on Boston's Latino community.

Why Your Support Matters:
BAA offers the city’s youth a world-class public arts education in keeping with Boston’s renown as a cultural capital.
Boston Arts Academy’s admissions process is unique. Students must demonstrate their commitment to their art—the only criteria for admissions. BAA reviews prior grades and learning and behavioral challenges after students have been admitted.
Studying the arts transforms a young person’s relationship to themselves, their community, and their world. BAA’s graduates are successful in a broad range of career fields, including law, education, business, and the arts.
As a pilot school within Boston Public Schools, public funding only covers a portion of BAA’s costs, mainly academic curriculum.
Boston Arts Academy Foundation bridges the gap and funds the arts, including arts faculty, resources, programming and more at BAA. The BAA Foundation also supports Health & Wellness, summer programs and college scholarships.
